Where are you located?

117 West Walker Street Suite 27 in Walkers Point. We are located one block south of 1st and National on Walker Street. You will see our glass gym door that leads directly into our gym on the second floor.

What do I need to bring?

Workout attire: Athletic Shorts/Pants and a T-shirt Water bottle and a good attitude. All gear will be given to you for free once you are signed up as a member. No shoes are allowed on the mat and all piercings and jewelry must be removed. Also be sure to have trimmed fingernails and toenails. Cleanliness is a top priority, so be sure your clothes and body are clean before training.

How much does it cost to train?

The first month is $30 for unlimited access except for invite only Saturday MMA practice at 10 AM. The discounted trial is your time to decide what classes you like and how often you will be attending them. The account manager will sit down with you to help figure out what package fits your needs at the end of your discounted trial.

I have never done anything like this before, are the classes for beginners?

Beginners are welcome to attend any class on the schedule except for Saturday MMA at 10 am. The class will usually start with a warm-up period then go into instruction and drilling techniques. A good learning strategy is for a beginner to focus on the first technique in class. The following techniques will build off of that. We will have an experienced member work with you to help and instructors are always open to questions.

What ages do you teach?

We have kids classes that start as young as 5 years old and clients as old as 70 years old. You are never too old to start! We regularly have students that start this type of training in their 40’s and 50’s.

Do I need to be “in shape” to start this kind of training?

No! This is where you come to GET in shape. You can start as slow as you want and build up from there. Many students like to supplement their training with strength and endurance work eventually, but the best advice we can give you is to just come in to start. This is a completely different workout that nothing else can simulate.

Will there be contact and do I need to participate in sparring/fighting someone else?

There will be hands-on contact when drilling techniques, but your partner is there as a drilling teammate to practice the moves. You will never be required to spar or roll (grapple) live, especially when you first start. In fact, anyone brand new will not be allowed to grapple or spar until they have been introduced to specific, live drills. This could take anywhere from a couple classes to several weeks of training. This is all for the safety of each student. Anyone with experience will be treated accordingly on a case by case basis.

When can I expect to earn belt rank?

A lot of the disciplines we teach at our gym do not have a belt ranking system. Wrestling, MMA, boxing, and kickboxing do not have belts. However, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that we teach that does and you can earn rank here. BJJ is a very slow promoting system. The belts go in progressing order from white, blue, purple, brown, black. The first four belts will each get 4 stripes before the next color belt. Every stripe is roughly 6 months of consistent training, and it takes an average of 10 years to reach black belt. It is not proper etiquette to ask for a promotion from your instructor so be patient and consistent, and know that when your promotion comes it was truly earned! The instructors know the students well and will promote when it’s time.
